Polyurethane coatings are particularly recommended for application to surfaces subject to high levels of wear-and-tear, where excellent chemical/physical resistance is required.

  • Versatility and ease of use
  • Spray, roller, curtain-coater or electrostatic application
  • Excellent chemical/physical resistance
  • Excellent transparency
  • High solid residue (42-65%)

Acrylic surface coatings are the leading finishes used in the exposed waterproofing and damp proofing applications, having surpassed alkyd finishes over the past few years. Based on acrylic and/or methacrylic polymers or copolymers, acrylic surface coatings are noted for their inertnessand excellent colour retention when exposed to outdoor conditions. Acrylics are one of the fastest-growing sectors in the waterproofing industry.

Acrylic coatings can be thermoplastic or thermosetting. In addition, they can be applied in organic solventborne, waterborne, powder or radiation-curable formulations.Acrylic polymers can be formulated to be tough and hard, and also very flexible. Plexiglas impact resistance is one example where it is used in banks to provide bulletproof shields. Acrylics are to be tolerant of movement at low temperature, very elastic in their behaviour.

BITUMAT SYNROOF HI-BUILD, an elastomeric, premium quality acrylic coating, may be applied by brush, roller, squeegee or spray equipment depending on site conditions. To spray, select a nozzle size of at least 0.028 in.; first checking the spray equipment to ensure suitability. All surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry, free from dust, dirt, oil and other contaminants. Coverage varies depending on factors such as type and quality of substrates i.e. surface regularity and application method. Apply in separate coats, each at a right angle to the one before. Using a different colour for each coat helps ensure consistency of cover. The final coating thickness to be achieved depends on the requirements of the individual roof. A final dry film thickness between 0.5 and 1.5 mm may be built-up.

HW&CC offers a range of polyester reinforced,APP &SBS modified bitumen membranes, insulation boards and vapour control layers which are applied using traditional methods – either torch-on or pour & roll.

The SBS modification adds flexibility, application strength and durability to the membranes. Bitumen flat roof systems are ideal for both new build or refurbishment projects. Offering guaranteed quality, specifiers can select high quality products suitable for a wide range of surfaces, including metal decking, timber and concrete substrates.

Products range from traditional felts and underlays, used in professional applications, to innovative energy efficient and flame retardant solutions designed for experienced roofing teams.

PVC membrane is a cost-effective alternative to traditional waterproofing systems and can be produced in a multitude of colours to coordinate with individual commercial building project needs. When produced in bright white, this flexible fabric membrane reduces radiant heat gain, keeping interior temperatures cooler during warmer weather conditions.
